The waiting is like a season in between.

This piece from my “Works on Paper 2025” series captures that unique transitional moment we experience in Scandinavian spring—when light returns but our landscape hasn’t yet dressed itself in green.

I created this work with dry pastels and pigment on premium paper, layering colors in a meditation on anticipation. You’ll notice how the deep blacks blend into warm browns, how a distinctive mint horizon glows at the center, while earthy beiges transition to darker tones below.

My Artistic Process

This is a time when I enjoy diving into the beautiful grayish color tones through mixing layers of colors. It sharpens my senses to the colors coming! The process of creating these gradient layers mirrors the gradual transition of our seasons.

To feel connected to here and now, I bring the season into my home by changing a painting and color mood. This work invites you to do the same—to appreciate the unique beauty found in anticipation and the in-between moments.
